ספרי בלימה היא הוצאה עצמאית לספרות יהודית רדיקלית.
מקורה של המילה ״רדיקלית״ בלטינית, ומשמעותה: ״מן השורש״. אם כן, ספרות יהודית רדיקלית פירושה ספרות הצומחת מתוך הניסיון היהודי. ספרות יהודית רדיקלית מנתחת את העבר, מבקרת את ההווה, ומבשרת את העתיד. ספרות יהודית רדיקלית מתגאה ביוצא מן הכלל, אך מעוגנת במציאות. ברוח זו, תמצאו בין ספרי בלימה מסות עיוניות, מהדורות מחקריות, מעשיות שהיו ודמיונות שלא נבראו, כמו גם מרידות נגד המקובעות השוררות בשיח העכשווי.
הסגנון החזותי שלנו נקבע בהשראת בתי הדפוס העבריים של ראשית המאה העשרים. ״אין הבדל בין מה שספר אומר ובין איך שהוא נוצר״, טענו ז׳יל דלז ופליקס גואטרי. הצלחתה של הספרות תלויה בהפקת הספר עצמו. לכן, ספרינו נתקנים ונסדרים בידי מעצבים ואומנים מעולים תוך הקפדה יתירה על יופי־הדפוס. בעידן הדיגיטלי, בו ניתן לקרוא טקסטים בכל אתר ואתר, אין טעם בהדפסת ספרים מכוערים. כוחו של הטקסט נעוץ באובייקט, והאסתטיקה פותחת צוהר לתיבות.
הוצאת ספרי בלימה נוסדה על ידי יוסי שוויג ואבינעם סטילמן בשנת ה׳תשע״ט, וממוקמת בירושלים ובברלין. כעורכים, אנחנו מתמסרים לגאולה טקסטואלית, גאולה שאיננה מחסלת את היופי והכאב שבגלות. רצוננו להעלות על נס כתבים נשכחים וחדשנים ללא התערבות יתירה וללא טשטוש מגמתי. כל ספר שאנו מפרסמים נועד להיות אקט של מינימליזם עקרוני. בכך אנו מתחייבים לשיחה מתמשכת עם רוחות המתים ועם ריבוי הקולות שבשפות היהודיות.
Blima Books is an independent publisher of Radical Jewish Literature.
The word “radical,” of Latin origin, means “from the root.” Therefore, Radical Jewish Literature means literature which grows out of the Jewish experience. Radical Jewish Literature analyzes the past, critiques the present, and prophesies the future. Radical Jewish Literature takes pride in the exceptional but is anchored in the real. In this spirit, Blima Books publishes speculative essays, critical editions, true stories, and wild imaginations, as well as rebellions against the certainties which dominate contemporary discourse.
Our visual style is inspired by the Hebrew presses of the early twentieth century. “There is no difference between what a book talks about and how it is made,” claim Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari. Literary success depends upon the production of the book itself. Therefore, our books are designed and laid-out by exceptional graphic designers and artists, with particular attention to the attractions of print. In the digital age, when texts can be read on any website, there is no reason to print ugly books. The power of the text is embedded in the object, and aestheticism illuminates the letters.
Blima Books was established by Yosef Schweig and Avinoam Stillman in 2019 and is based in Jerusalem and Berlin. As editors, we are dedicated to textual redemption, a redemption which does not negate the beauty and the pain of exile. We want to celebrate forgotten and innovative writings without extraneous intervention or biased distortions. Every book which we publish is meant as an act of principled minimalism. This is how we commit ourselves to a continued conversation with the spirits of the dead and with the many voices of Jewish languages.
